First off get a licence. Then go to Bass pro Shops if there if one near you with $100 or more and find someone who works there (someone who knows what there doing) and ask them about the waters near you and the time of year. But if you can’t do that then buy you a good rod and reel, it will cost more than $50 for a good combo. Then buy some good quality hooks and some plastic worms. Maby even a few crankbaits and a spinner bait, you a willow blade for clear water and acolorado blade for murkey. A willow blade is long and thin whare a colorado blade is almost circular. Then read about all the diffrent rigs on the internet and how to use them.

The first thing to go on the reel is the backing. Wind it on and then use a nail knot to attach the fly line to the backing. Then, after you wind the fly line on, put the loop connector on the end. Tie a perfection loop on the thick end of the leader and attatch it to the loop connector. Add some tippet to the small end of the leader and you’re ready to attach the fly. i live in hadfield its a village high in the u.k and any fish is good for me
It depends on how much stuff you need or want and the quality of equipment you want. Me and my dad have thousands of dollars worth of equipment and that doesn’t even count the boat and motors. However if you just want to go fishing and catch a few you can get the equipment needed for fairly cheap.
1 I would start with an Ugly Stik spinning rod, they typically run about 30 bucks, and a spinning reel you feel comfortable with. The best thing to do is go to your local sporting goods store and play with the demo models until you find something you are comfortable with. Most of these stores will also string the reel for you for a few dollars, but if they don’t I’d recommend buying monofiliment line it is inexpensive and easy to use in fact most of what i use is monofiliment. You’ll also need a variety of smaller supplies including hooks, sinkers (split shots are your best bet), a depth finder, maybe lures and probably a bobber (slip bobbers are my preference) or two and of course some bait. I’d also recommend a small tackle box to get started since it comes in handy. Depending on the size of the fish a net and needle-nose pliers are both possible needs. I always have both a needle nose and a set of nail clippers in the boat.

Some good community fish are danios, barbs, mollies, guppies, platys, swords, tetras(do better in well established aquariums) and rasboras. Most are great community fish that go fine together (with a few exceptions). Also most schooling fish like these are best in groups of 6+
Corys, small type plecos, otos, and shrimp for bottom feeders.
Gouramies,Killifish, Rainbowfish,and bettas(female bettas will be fine with most fish but you have to be more careful with tank mates for males) for centerpiece fish.

I know a guy who went to petco and they told him clown loaches were okay in a 30 gallon tank ( there not, they need around 75 gallons) Anyway, the best way to know if fish are okay together is to do a little research. You should have your drags set at easy but not allowing line off while the boat moves and you should tighten down the drag as the boat slows to a stop while one is on. Never allow slack in the line NEVER. Trout have tongues and they can spit hooks about as good (actually better than) as any fish I know.

How to Choose a Fishing Charter – for Lake Erie or Anywhere Else
Is lining up a charted fishing trip as simple as picking the phone number of a captain listed in the ad section of a Fishing Magazine? Short answer – maybe.
Lake Erie, for example, has such a diverse selection of fish that many charter services focus only on one or two species. Book with a salmon guide when you want to troll for some walleye and you could short-circuit your trip even before launch. The majority of guides and captains are dedicated business people intent on providing their sports (‘sport’ is the term for fishermen who hire a service to take them fishing) the best time on the water they’ve ever had. But what it means to have a great time fishing can mean different things to different folks.
Help yourself and your Lake Erie charter captain by doing a bit of investigating:
What Type of Fish do You Want to Catch?
If you want big Lake Erie walleyes, say so; if you’d like king salmon, say so and do it more than once. Be sure to politely grill the guide or captain on what fish they spend the bulk of their time angling for. When business is slow a guide service may say, yes, they do fish for walleye, even though they focus on bass. Hey, most everyone on Lake Erie fishes for walleye at some point and the charter captain in question may be very good at catching walleye, but a conscientious guide will always be up front with you about their expertise.
What Fishing Method Do You Want to Use?
A fishermen who likes to drift deep baits for Lake Erie walleye could be miserable spending his day on the water listening to the drone of outboards trolling lures for walleye. Again, asking questions about how a charter service fishes is critical. Try to be as specific as possible when describing what kind of fishing you’d like to do. Both you and the charter captain could end up frustrated if you keep asking to shut down and drift when he’s more confident covering more water by trolling. Though charter trips often run more than $200/angler, sports should expect to tip your Lake Erie charter captain a minimum of $30 (mates a little less) to express your appreciation of how hard he or she worked to make your trip a success. Notice I didn’t say you should tip because you caught lots of fish – the tip is for recognition of your guide’s effort, attention to details, flexibility, and safe boatmanship. A bad guide may not deserve a tip and if that is how you feel, then politely explain why and be on your way. And if you can’t afford a tip, that’s just the way things are; but keep in mind a handshake and smile won’t keep the captain’s family warm in winter when the lake is iced over.
Other Important Factors to Consider
What kind of food and beverages, if any, will the charter service provide? Do you need to bring your own rain gear, sunscreen, or motion sickness pills? Be sure to bring your own camera to record the good times. Does the boat have a private head (bathroom)? What is the departure time exactly? Be ready to go, it’s your own time and money you’ll be wasting by arriving late.
While no Lake Erie charter captain likes people getting drunk onboard, some don’t mind sports having a beer or two; some forbid alcohol of any kind, so ask in advance if you like cracking a cold one after landing a big walleye.
And be certain to find out in advance what the guide’s cancellation policy is. There are only so many days of fishing season and each one is very important to charter services so don’t leave them hanging by backing out at the last second because you don’t feel like going anymore. It’s bad manners and you might not get your money back. On the other hand, places like Lake Erie can get pretty nasty in foul weather and no guide or captain should demand their sports endure unpleasant conditions just to make a buck.
For most people, hiring a charter captain to lead you to a trophy walleye, salmon, bass, or steelhead is a rare treat. Following the steps outlined above will go a long way toward making your Lake Erie walleye charter, or any fishing charter, the trip of lifetime.

Five Things You Absolutely Must Have in Your Sea Fishing Tackle Box
Your sea fishing tackle box is not just a box that holds your hooks, baits and lures. There are other important items that your tackle box should hold.
An essential piece of equipment that you must always have with you whenever you go out to the sea and fish is your sea fishing tackle box. Your sea fishing tackle box is the container in which you should store your fishing hooks, your baits and lures, and all the other small items that form part of your fishing gear.

If you got an undersized fish (as noted in the state’s regulation book), quickly return it to the water. Likewise, if you have no intention in eating your catch, do not waste it and return it to the water. Releasing the fish will supply the water with more fish, giving future fishermen the thrill to experience a catch.
Lastly, look around you and feel the calm, restful and serene view of the river.

What is the best way to teach kids about fishing and the environment?
I recently started a tri-state non-profit fishing class for kids in the Minnesota, Iowa and Wisconsin area called The Fishing Tree, www.thefishingtree.com.
We teach kids about fish species, equipment, lure selection, safety etc. We only get a few hours and want to make sure they have fun and retain info. Do you find kids retain more from being read to, reading themselves, hands on learning, videos, etc?
I have my own opinions, but want to see what others think.
Without doubt they only learn after their curiosity has been piqued.

What materials would I need to add a live well to a 12′ aluminum fishing boat?
I have added wooden fishing platforms on the front and back with a trolling motor on front with an outboard on back. This is not leaving me a heck of a lot of room. How big should it be to enable us to fish most bass tourneys? FYI the boat is a 12′ Meyers
here’s what i did on my 12ft gamefisher i took a medium sized cooler about 2 1/2 feet long by a foot or so wide and drill a few holes on the lid so you can slide a hose from a battery operate aerator but also get a few bait bubble tablets and put them in with the fish also put a few hand fulls o ice in about every hr. the way i did it just met the qualifications for my B.A.S.S. Club.
P.S. drill a few more small holes through the lid so when the aerator it going the air doesn’t pop the lid off.
