Buying Your Fishing Equipment

Before providing the underlying technology, which is granted a license. Require an amateur fisherman there are basic parts of fishing equipment to complete your exciting journey into the world of fishing. Knowing the line type and matching the right rod and reel fishing technique is just common sense. Match these tools appropriately and expect a more enjoyable experience for a comfortable fishing. There are many things that make the development of bird’s nest again, do not worry, even experienced fishermen encounter this every now and then.

The main aim is to match the rod, the roles of line and lure. It costs only a novice about $ 25 to $ 40, and could take years. The 3 most important issues when shopping for a rod are: drivers, which are related to the pole, the handle holds the rod and could come from cork or foam. They come in different lengths so the comfort for the user must examine the role of the office that is linked to the function.

Dealers make a lot of reeds, either alone or may consist of two or more pieces when assembled. The connection is simple, safe only in a combination of male and female ends together to make sure that drivers aligned. This will only last a minute. Sometimes, lubricants are needed. When you buy a bar to bend a bit to get an idea of it. Again, comfort should be considered when using the devices.

Bars any job. It should be about 6 long-weight and medium term. Even a long stick will work. This should be large, straight and flexible, the risk of breaking easily. The most popular rod is Graphite because it is so easy and so powerful. Barras diffuse and should be up to 4 m long to be used for long casts in moderate winds.

There are many fishing lines to choose from, and can be very confusing to find the best. They are usually made of nylon and monofilament , which rolls are called variable-length tests. The larger the fishing line is thicker in diameter. Find a piece of 4 pounds. Or 4 kg of test that almost 10 ‘long for the base platform.

The basic rule is that all the gears should match. To summarize the fishing kit should include other things: very clean, Stringer, cutting the line, a fishing knife, first aid kit, a bucket of bait, sunglasses, fishing hat and talked about the key to On Not to mention the snacks!

Does anyone get weird feelings entering a tackle shop?

I get he heeby jeebies when i see all the fishing equipment! I buy practically the whole store when i get in there! It gets so bad i have to make a list, like a grocery list of all the assessments i am needing (hooks, sinkers, maybe a lure or two to replace the one i lost.) And i don’t know i feel like i want everything! EWWWW BANJO MINNOWS!! Doug Hannon’s Fishing snake? Helicopter lures!!?? I’m in heaven!!!

LOL. Even if i am in a small fishing department aisle such as Wal-Mart’s, i still feel like i have to have everything, when i already own everything they sell!

Every time I go to Walmart I have to go to the fishing section it’s just one of those things that we do to see if there are any good sales a lot of times they have put some good things in the bargain bins for like half the price and then you can’t help but get them. Ex. I bought 2 Bandit crank baits a couple of months ago for like a buck a piece and a Spro bronze eye frog for like 3 bucks regular price on those are like $ 8. So why not go on the aisle your already in the store.

How to Choose the Best Fishing Waders For Your Next River Fishing Trip

When it comes to fishing you have many options, but river fishing is one of the most enjoyable formats of this popular hobby and sport. There is nothing like wading in a beautiful river trying to catch a trout or another river fish. As enjoyable as going for fish in a river is, it does have its challenges. Good fishing locations can be remote, cold and hard to get to.  Fishing can be time-consuming and standing in that cold water can get chilly.

That’s why along with their gear and tackle box, a lot of fisherman like to bring along their winter woolies and a high-quality pair of fishing waders. Getting good waders is an important part of keeping the experience enjoyable.

What Type Of Fishing Waders Are Best?

When it comes to choosing fishing waders for the river, there are some factors you want to take into consideration. Some of those factors include the type of fish you are after, your personal preferences, and cost.

In terms of cost, it is important to remember that the quality of the waders is associated with the price pretty strongly. The only thing nice about inexpensive waders for fishing is their cheap price tag; you will be hard pressed to find another benefit. IF you only go fishing occasionally, that may be perfectly adequate.  But by opting for a more expensive and quality built set, you can save money in the long-run and enjoy your fishing experience more.

Now, back to the best waders for river fishing: What are they?

Breathable Fishing Waders: These are very easy and comfortable to wear, as well as lightweight. In fact, you may find them no different than wearing your favorite pair of pants. This particular type can be cold when finishing in cold waters, but you can take extra precautions (like by layering your clothes underneath). Breathable fishing waders are best for trout or small mouth fishing, as well as during the late spring and summer months.

Neoprene Fishing Waders: These are one of the most popular and highly sought after waders available for sale today. They are popular because of their strength and durability. They are much more durable than the above-mentioned breathable waders. However, they too have their downsides, including their weight. This type is best used when angling for steel-head. Since they are not known for their breath-ability, they are best for use during winter and fall months; as they may be too hot and uncomfortable to wear during the hot summer.

In short, breathable waders or neoprene fishing waders are usually your best bet when preparing to fish in a river.

How Much Do Fishing Waders Cost?

As for price, you can get way spending $225 or less for an “okay” pair.

If you want a pair that last for years, the $225 to $400 price range is better.

Yes, this means spending more money than you would for a traditional pair of rubber waders, but remember that you get a better value for your money. Not only that, you will notice an improvement in your fishing experience. You aren’t uncomfortable, water isn’t seeping through, and you don’t need to buy replacements year after year.

How does fishing forecast change when a river is close to flood stage?

I’m going fishing on Wednesday and want to try a river near my home. We’ve had ALOT of rain in the past two weeks and the river is up. How does fishing change with this?

caunltd provides some really interesting information about how rising waters can affect different fish. I never knew that stuff about shad v. striper. Very cool.

However, in general, for the novice angler, the forecast for the conditions you describe will be poor. I happened to see another question from you here in the Fishing section, which mentioned that you are relatively inexperienced at fishing. For most folks like you, the fish will be harder to find for one fairly simple rule: more water and the same amount of fish make the fish more difficult to find. Many fish, like trout, feed very selectively and/or minimally during very high flows and it gets really tough to find them, let alone induce them into taking a hook. Even experienced anglers can be skunked when a river gets really high.

There are also several other considerations. For one thing, higher flow usually brings more turbidity (cloudiness, muddiness). This makes it tough to spot fish as you might otherwise be able to do. Also, much of the flatwater and backwater habitat of a river system (which is usually somewhat easier to fish) will be blown out and as difficult to fish as swifter areas. I don’t know if you’re planning to wade, but wading a river that is close to flood stage is not advisable — pushy water, unpredictable flows, and shifting substrates all conspire to say: PROCEED WITH CAUTION.

As a beginner, I predict you’ll be challenged by these conditions and you won’t catch as many as you might under more nominal flow conditions. I suspect you’re not too familiar (yet) with the various “personalities” of the river you’re fishing, so you don’t know what to expect in the first place — add in high flows and you’re facing a tough day of fishing. Unlike caunltd, you probably don’t have an awareness (YET) of how the various species in this system react to changing flows. Again, with so many unknowns, you’ll be lucky to catch a lot of fish.

HOWEVER (and your grandpa would probably agree with me), a day of fishing with no catch is better than a day without fishing. I would go fishing anyway, despite the high water and a less-than-stellar forecast. Maybe the water has dropped suddenly. Maybe you’ll stumble on a honey-hole. Maybe you bump into someone who can give you pointers. At the very least, you’ll be able to see what the river’s doing — take some notes (both mental and the written kind). Note the highwater marks and other observations that might be helpful later.

One great thing about fishing — you just never know what’s gonna happen till you get to the water, so it’s important to go whenever you can.

Are You Fighting Brown Algae In A Salt Water Fish Tank?

The setup of your saltwater fish tank is only the beginning. You may have to make many adjustments to the water, lighting, food, and the items in your saltwater fish tank. One frequent problem many people complain about is algae.

Algae can be green or even brown colored. Diatom or brown algae in a saltwater fish tank is easy to get and will need special attention to remove. Fortunately, there are just a few causes for brown algae problems. Once you’ve identified and removed the source, your problem will be solved.

Brown algae, just like the green algae, need light and a few other ingredients to survive. It could be tank lights or sunlight feeding your algae. The other ingredients are nitrates and silicates that help the growth of brown algae in a saltwater fish tank. Therefore, the first step to get rid of brown algae in a saltwater fish tank is to consider the lighting.

If your tank is placed where sunlight hits it for any length of time, you’ll want to move it to a different location. Also, evaluate to make sure the tank lights aren’t too bright, thus giving the brown algae a good growth environment.

Remove Ingredients

The best way to remove brown algae in a saltwater fish tank is to get rid of the ingredient feeding it. Getting rid of the silicates alone will kill the brown algae. It’s also a good idea to remove high levels of nitrates.

The best way to check your nitrate and silicate levels is to buy a test kit. Adjust your water accordingly, cut down on your lights and the brown algae in a saltwater fish tank should be a problem of the past.

What is the best way to get rid of Silicates?

Silicates can enter your saltwater tank through many different ways. They can get in with certain sea salts, through the tap water you use, or enter on the substrate inside your tank.

Since the problem could be coming from any of the above sources, the best thing to do is to remove any sand in the tank unless it actually came from the ocean. Start using only RO/DI water no matter what kind of tank you have. Finally yet importantly, check the salt you use for high silicates.

Follow these simple steps and verything in your tank will not only look better but will be healthier. Your salt water fish will have a clean and happy home.

Any tips on salt water fishing?

I’m goging to Destin,Florida and I don’t know what to do.

Where are you going to fish in Destin? If the surf, (good this time of year) go to half hitch tackle there, get some pompano rigs, a 1 oz pyramid wieght and fish live sand fleas. There are a good number of party boats out of Destin…go to harbor walk, and just ask around, you will be dirrected to some, the red snapper and grouper are hot right now down there. Depending on what you want to do, just go to the half hitch and ask them (I love the basspro there, but for info, the half hitch is better). http://www.halfhitch.com/ this has the fishing reports, etc… good luck.

Fishing Fun – 5 Tips To Get You Started

As any angler would tell you fishing is not only fun, but also a peaceful sport that enables you to spend a few quiet moments with friends, family, and nature. The sport of fresh water fishing includes catching fish in rivers, lakes, and streams.

Even children can take part in a fishing trip. However, you need plenty of patience for fishing. It is quite challenging and requires a lot of skill on your part, which you can aquire only with the passage of time.

1. Get a License

To begin with, you have to study the fishing laws and rules of your state and find out if you require a license for fishing. If you need a license, ask at a good sporting goods store for information on how you can acquire one. The people at the sporting goods store will help you get a license. Some will even get it done for you.

2. Purchase Fishing Equipment

In the meantime, you can take a look around the store and purchase some quality fishing equipment for your fishing trip. Since you are only a beginner, purchase only the basic equipment required for a fishing trip. When you have doubts about the equipment you require, don’t hesitate to clear them with the store owner.

Remember that you have to stay within the limits of your budget. Don’t purchase each and every thing that the store offers you. Although artificial bait is available at the stores, you could try using the worms in your backyard as live bait if you wish to save some money.

For your first fishing trip, you need to purchase only an inexpensive fishing rod, a reel, a line, a hook, a weight, a bobber, some bait, and a net. Purchase a pair of polarized sunglasses too because they will enable you to see through the water clearly without having to suffer an eyestrain due to the rays of the sun.

When you are more experienced, you can purchase quality equipment. Till you gain experience, enjoy fishing with ordinary, basic equipment.

3. Find a Good Fishing Spot

You need to find out about local fishing spots. If you don’t know any, ask for information regarding local fishing ‘hot spots.” You can also check the fishing regulations of your state for information about the best locations for fishing in and around your state.

4. Practise Well

Practise will make you a better angler. When you have sufficiently developed your skill, you can go into deeper waters. Before you venture into deeper waters, ensure that you have practised casting your line well.

The best place to practise is your backyard. Use a rope to mark a practise area in your backyard and pratice casting your line there. Study a number of fishing techniques to find one that suits you best. Use your wrist when you cast, not your arm.

You have to handle fishing hooks with care because they are very sharp. Before you begin your practise in your backyard, make sure that nobody is around. The hook could hurt someone.

When you have had enough pratise in your backyard and you want to try it for real, proceed to a popular fishing spot.

5. Some Fishing Tips

Keep these tips in mind during your first fishing trip.

As far as possible, don’t fish alone. Always fish with a friend or a group of friends so that, in case of emergency, there will always be someone to help.

It is not a great idea to fish in shallow waters. Cast your net in shady, deep, and rocky places where the fish are more likely to be.

Remember to cast the line just in front of the fish. Let your bait down slowly without making any splash. The fish can see the things that are close to them, but they cannot see behind them.

If you are casting your line in a haphazard manner, you need to go closer to the water to be able to cast more accurately.

Watch your bobber carefully for any movement. Whenever a fish swallows the bait, the bobber disappears under water. This means that you have caught a fish. Don’t let this excite you too much. It is important to be calm, especially at this moment.

Keep the line tight while your reel up your catch. Use your net to get the fish out of the water. Take care while you separate the hook from the fish.

If you have caught a particular size of fish, as specified in your state’s fishing regulations book, release it immediately. In the same way, if you don’t intend to eat your catch, you had better release it into the water. This will ensure that the lakes, streams, and rivers will be full of fish always so that many more generations of anglers can enjoy this sport.

Before you call it a day, enjoy the calmness and serenity of the river.

If I wished to fish for eels on the Thames during the current close season, what regulations would I have to adhere to?

You can’t fish for them during the closed season.

Eels are counted as coarse fish (your rod licence includes fishing for eels). As you know, the new coarse fishing season does not start until 16 June.

Walleye Fishing Equipment – What Gear Is Necessary

There are many things for a walleye angler to have when planning that fishing excursion on the hunt for the walleye. Rods, reels, and tackle come to mind. A boat, motor, electronics and ice fishing equipment are needed if you are going to be boat fishing and ice fishing. Your tackle is important when fishing for walleye. Although, you probably do not need all these baits, they are available. The crankbaits, Lindy Little Joe, Rapala lures, rigs, Line Dancer and jigs. You will need hooks and leadheads as well as the tackle box to keep everything in.

For electronics, you are going to want a sonar system, underwater camera and a GPS system for those who want to take the guest work out of finding the walleye. If you plan on fishing out on the lakes, you will need a boat and a good motor. For ice fishing, you need houses, locators, augers, rods and reels, lures, tip ups and maybe even a heater. As you can see, you need a few things that will help you fish better and with more success. The more success you have a particular bait in different conditions will be easier to narrow down the few things you need in your tackle box.

The Line Dance has become the hottest product in the fishing industry. This little gadget allows you to increase the vibration in your bait, which increases your chances of catching the walleye by live presentation. You can use the Line Dancer with spinners, worms, frogs, buzz baits, and stick baits, jigs, crank baits and spoons. This is quite a revolution for the walleye angler. You do not any skill level of fishing to use this device. The nice thing is the price is right and you can use it on different types of rods with different types of reels and line.

The floating Rapala is something every angler wants to have just in case. It wells well for catching walleye, but this is also going to depend on the water condition and the weather conditions. This is a surface bobber that dances on the surface of the water attracting the fish. Walleye do not come to the surface unless it is cloudy, so this is only good at certain times. This lure is more suited for imitating baitfish, but again it will only be affective in certain conditions. Maybe when the Mayflies are on the waters surface during the season.

The Eagle GPS has a speed indicator that can tell your speed when trolling. This is unique and needed if you are trolling for walleye during the night and even during the day. You want to keep your speed at a certain point when you are trolling and this system works great for supplying this information. When you plan to do a lot of trolling, the RAM trolling motor is the best for stabilization. This gives you protection for the motor as well as the hull.

Most anglers will tell you that rod makes the difference. Walleyes are light strikers because they inhale the bait. You need a rod that you can feel the strike as light as it may be. You want a lighter rod made of graphite. The rods have different ratings for the modulus, which for walleye fishing, you want a rod with a higher modulus rating because it is going to be sensitive and lighter. The guides need to be made of a hard ceramic such as Silicon Carbide or a Hardloy. Keep in mind that where the guides are placed is also important.

A Fishing Boat Can Make Your Fishing Trip Even More Fun

The experience of fishing is for many, great fun. Much of the fun comes from cruising the lake or river in a sporty boat. Many fishermen like to stand at the edge of the river to catch fish, but most people like to make use of their boats. Those who enjoy wading get a bit of an adrenal rush from being in the water with the fish. Wading can be dangerous at times so one must be cautious; it is much safer to stay in the boat.

Before any fishing trip you need to ensure that you have a good working fishing boat that will not leave you stranded. There are many different types of boats and you are sure to find the one best for you.

Sports boats are popular and offer many comforts while on the water. When you are thinking of making a purchase you should also take into consideration safety while on the water. Sports boats can be used not only for fishing, but also for enjoying the water. There are many activities that can be carried out around your fishing time with a sports boat. Skiing, wakeboarding and many other activities, offering something for everyone in the family. So not only can you catch tonight’s dinner, you can also have a great time in a sports boat.
.
Skiffs are also considered a fishing boat. They are made for shallow water and can carry 2 people. These work best for smaller water areas and can be easily maneuvered around the water. Skiffs are very popular in smaller lakes and rivers around the world.

Light tackle boats can be used for about 4 people at a time. They are great for just about any type of fishing due to the ability to move around the boat. Fishermen can easily walk around the boat, which is necessary for many catches. The light tackle boat can be used to catch a wider variety of fish. Since the light tackle boat is a bit bigger, it is sturdier for the bigger catches.

If deep-Sea Fishing is the thing for you, you will need an offshore boat. Offshore boats are larger in size and generally range from 35-45 feet and can accommodate up to 6 fishermen or guests. Your deep-sea fishing boat must be able to withstand the ocean water and the pull of the larger fish.

Of course the party boat or head boat can also be used for fishing expeditions. These boats are generally larger in size to accommodate guests. There are many luxuries on party boats so not only can your guest’s fish, they can also relax and enjoy the water. These are great for having picnics and for having family get togethers as well.

What ever you’re fishing needs there are a variety of fishing boats that can accommodate the beginner fisherman or the more experienced. Choosing a fishing boat can sometimes be confusing, so be sure and read up on the different types to determine the best fit for you and your family.

Online Fishing Store
Online Fishing Store

Parakeet owner, turned online pet shop manager

Almost everyone has some pet or another today. There are so many different ones. From dogs to cats and everything in between, people can choose almost whatever they want and make a pet out of it. You may find barn yard animals with collars and leashes. You could run into turtles in bowls and birds in cages. So does the pet owner go to the local shop or the pet store online for relevant supplies?

There is more choices online, and a site just geared for the supplies that you need.

The online pet shops usually are specialty stores. Many shops focus on one main niche. When you browse the catalog of the online pet stores, you will discover many different items you never knew existed. These e-stores can carry products the local shops cannot because they have drop ship services. This means when you order from the pet store online, the items will be delivered to you directly from a warehouse rather than the store itself. There is no inventory cluttering up the aisle ways.

If you need a large breeding cage you can find it from an online pet merchant. In fact, you can find just about anything you would need for the little or big birds. From food to toys, the online pet store will have what you desire for the care of your feathered friends.

Low prices.

Low prices are normally a real benefit of the e-commerce pet stores which carry bird supplies. The prices are lower and the quality of products your receive from the online pet supplies shops are top of the line.

Online pet stores do not have to worry about buying power. They have a worldwide client base. These shops are able to keep their prices affordable, offering some items the local stores simply cannot stock. This is because the pet stores found on the world wide web have their own specialties. There are groups that focus on bird sales. Another devotes their attention to the fish. Still another deals with things like reptiles or snakes.

Quality service.

I explain bird cages to my customers. ” When choosing a bird cage, remember to pick a comfortable home for daily living, not a cage that is just big enough! Consider the wingspan of your pet – a cage must allow generous space for wing-stretching & a good range of movement and play – without being cramped. More space & exercise relieve many behavioral problems. Spend time every day playing with your bird outside the cage, with a playpen or in a bird-safe room. Keep cages away from smoke, chemicals, strong smells, loud noises and drafts.”

Which helps rocket my sale of bird cages. You could do the same with your field of knowledge.

You also can find good quality items from an online store. You can almost always locate what you need, and usually useful items you did not know existed. Being the expert in your animal field, what ever it maybe, is your big advantage in the online market place. The prices are reasonable. The service is good. Take a look at what is available. You may be surprised by the advantages of owning an online pet store.

Fishing Equipment

Most type of fishing gear or equipment is called fishing tackle. Fishing equipment ranges from fishing rods and reels to waders and lures. Fishing equipment can be quite important for an angler in that it can be the difference between a good day and a bad day. First there is the fishing rod and reel. A fishing rod is the pole that is used to attach line, hook, and sinkers to. Rods generally range from around three feet all the way up to twenty feet depending on the type of fishing one is doing. Fishing rods are an essential piece of fishing equipment but also come in many different materials and styles. For example, fly rods are specifically made for fly fishing and are typically made of carbon graphite. The reel is a piece of fishing equipment that deploys the fishing line and allows the angler to bring it back in. Reels also come in different types from fly reels to bait cast reels to spin cast reels. All serve different purposes and should be understood by a fisherman or woman before purchasing and using.

Fishing bait is also a vital part of fishing equipment and can mean the difference between catching or not catching fish. Natural baits frequently used include worms, minnows, and frogs. Insects are also a common form of bait used by fisherman. Artificial baits, called lures, are also popular among fisherman. These baits are made to attract fish and are usually used with a type of action to make the lure more life-like. Fly fisherman, for example, often use artificial flies which can be presented on the surface or just below.

It is important for anyone interested in fishing to study and understand the type of fishing equipment available. You must understand what type of fishing you are doing and which equipment makes the most sense. When buying bait, you also have various choices and therefore, need to research the latest lures to see what is working for other anglers. By using the right fishing equipment, you can give yourself much better chances to catch a lot of fish.

Guide to Building Websites That Work

ark

Caution:

If you are looking for “Get-Rich-Quick,” close this page. You are at the wrong place. Common sense dictates that is impossible. If you intend to build a major online corporation, you need a Webmaster and programmers.

But if you are willing to work to build a genuine small business with long-term value and profits, read on. You have come to the right place, the only place, where the average small business person can indeed build a profitable online business.

We all have different reasons for building businesses online.

It depends on who you are, from raw “newbie” to marketing expert.

It depends on what you want out of business and life…

* Freedom and self-reliance?

* Increased revenues from an existing business.

* Growth and independence?

* Living life with passion.

* Recognition and support?

* Community and belonging.

* The right skills and control?

* Additional family income & time.

No matter your reason, you surely want to succeed. But the bitter truth is that only a few people have or know what it takes. Your Web site either makes the sale, or it doesn’t. Ninety-nine out of a hundred sites still don’t get the order.

We blame that on suspicious, scared Web-consumers.

Wrong.

No matter what you offer on the Web, your site must SELL! Are you selling digital goods like software, video games, or info-products? Do you sell freezers to Eskimos (to store the ice you sold them), or other hard-good widgets?

Got a store with dozens, hundreds, even thousands of items to sell?

Think there’s no way you could sell hamburgers on the Web? Why not use your site to sell visitors on registering for digital discount coupons for your special of the month?! Just print and present one to the restaurant nearest you!

Maybe you’re looking to expand regional sales into global distribution? Or do you want to generate leads for your OEM business? Are you considering adding an online profit-center to take advantage of your existing offline store’s infrastructure (1-800 number, warehouse, inventory, database, etc.)? A no-brainer… if you do it right!

Or… has your own profitable Web site just been a dream until now? Well, everyone’s an expert on something!

So…

Think! Brainstorm a little. Can you offer…

* world-class consulting services on your special area of expertise?

* special travel services, like bike tours through the Andes?

* unique info-products, based on knowledge from your job or hobby?

* Multi-national corporation? Entrepreneur with an idea?

It doesn’t matter. Here’s the bottom line.. you can make our site sell.

Just last week my family(extended) had a get together ,something small. Like most of such occasions everyone wants to know what everyone is up to and we all make jokes about the little things. I am a natural, I usually get everyone’s attention for being outspoken ,sort of a Bilbo in the Baggins family.

During dinner we had hardly eaten a chunk or two when my little niece turned to me and said,” Can you help me make my site sell?

I was taken aback because before now I had no idea she had a website or was trying any making ventures online. The truth is that she had secretly spent all her pocket cash for six months on paying for hosting, and a domain. She had installed a shopping cart, tweaked it in every possible way. But after 8 months she had received just 18 unique visitors and made no sales of her art works even though they cost just 20 dollars.

I decided to help, of course I had no choice.

I took her through a 3 week class. I am going to try to summarize the process in this article, cos I found out that there a lot of out there struggling with building a website and fail miserably talk less of making money from it.

So many people out there even go a step further buying resale rights products, books etc.

These are not wrong in themselves as I have personally written some myself. But if you do not understand the fundamental principles about businesses on online you will fail and loose your hard earned cash too.

But first lets out line the problems my niece was having. She mentioned so many things but here is a summary

1.No traffic

2.No sales

3.Domain Name irrelevance

I am sure lots of persons reading this will identify with these problems.

If you are new to building web based businesses you should read the entire article so avoid these traps.

Everything we build in life should be anchored a good foundation, this also goes for building websites for profit. In our case here’s the foundation. . .

C-T-P-M

Content Traffic Presell Monetize

Step 1 – Understand the difference between “PREselling” and “Selling.”

Content -Traffic – PREsell – Monetize.

What’s it all about? Where’s the magic?

No magic. And it’s all about your “pre-customer,” about the hundreds of millions of people who surf the Net every day…

People use the Web as a searching tool. They search for credible high-value information or solutions, anything that can fulfill a wish that they hold dearly or solve a troublesome problem that they are experiencing.

Success on the Net all begins with a critical mindset shift. This means replacing that well-known offline strategy of “location, location, location” with…

“Information, information, information.”

In the online world, no one just happens to walk past, see your business and enter your Web site. Surfers on the Net are not looking for you or your business. People search for information, for solutions. After all, if they knew you existed, they would not be searching. They would already be customers.

Online, you must generate your own traffic to thrive and be profitable. Therefore, your primary task, well before you make your first sale or recommendation to a customer (often well before that person is even aware that s/he is shopping!), is to provide the information (i.e., content) that people are searching for, in a way that Search Engines like. In other words…

Give them what they want.

A Theme-Based Content Site contains information based upon a main subject. Each page focuses upon a single topic that is related to that theme. The net sum of all the information on all your pages forms the Content of your site.

These specific “topical pages” are called “Keyword-Focused Content Pages.” They rank well with the Search Engines (SEs), attracting lots of targeted Traffic.

The high-value content “warms up” (i.e., PREsells) visitors by OVERdelivering what they came for… information.

Visitors start to like and trust you (based on what you write about on your site). Your content-rich site builds trust and credibility… “PREselling!” The visitor begins to like and respect you… you are a knowledgeable expert.

This credibility creates an open-to-buy or open-to-hire mindset. You are now a mere click away from Monetizing (converting PREsold traffic into dollars)… affiliate links, order pages, contact forms, Google ads, your own store, eBay auctions, or any other way to monetize — they are now just one friendly click away!

This proven, results-generating process…

CONTENT -TRAFFIC -PRESELL – MONETIZE

… works. No matter how you plan to monetize…

* merchant-partner sites that you represent as an affiliate

* an order page on your site where a prospect can buy your own products (hard or digital goods)

* a contact form which visitors can use to follow-up with you for more details about your professional services or Network marketing business opportunity

* your own online store

* a site that sells a related, non-competitive service or product, in return for a referral fee

* your established sales site (become your own best affiliate!)

* an ad from Google’s AdSense program

* any combination of the above or others!

PREsold visitors convert more easily and more frequently into paying customers… which is exactly the result that your online business wants and needs in order to grow. That is the winning advantage of a “Theme-Based Content Site.”

Contrast that to a visitor who arrives at a sales site… no inspiring, relevant, editorial content. Selling merely tries to get the sale. If you do not have a brand (and most of us do not), if you have not built a relationship with your visitor, your chances of selling are near-zero.

Why? Well, which person would YOU respond to? A stranger with a sales pitch or a knowledgeable friend/expert making a recommendation? Become that knowledgeable friend/expert.

Great content encourages your visitor to think about you as a “friend/expert” rather than a stranger. And if you create a truly info-rich site, you’ll actually become a trusted expert, sharing your wealth of information. You basically create your own brand… your “brand of one.”

People “buy” from those they know and like. They resist sales efforts from everyone else.

And that is why 99% of small businesses fail online.

Selling is not your site’s first priority. (In fact, you may decide not to sell anything and become an “infopreneur” instead!) Your #1 priority is to PREsell through the delivery of the information that visitors seek.

You “monetize” (i.e., convert visitors into money) later.

Effective PREselling creates an open-to-buy (or open-to-hire) frame of mind in your visitors and “gets the click” to your income-generating source (whatever your monetization models may be). That is what produces high Conversion Rates (the percentage of visitors who convert into dollars) and generates more income for you.

The needs of your target group must be your #1 priority, the reason behind every action you take. Your desire to earn income always comes second. Paradoxically, by doing that your income soars.

Once you’ve absorbed C – T – P – M, please realize this is not “theory.” It has been proven thousands of times as the only way for the small business person to succeed online — it is reality. You are now ready to…

Step 2 — Act upon the “PREselling Reality.”

As just mentioned, the reality of PREselling is that it works… if YOU work it! Thousands of ordinary, everyday business people have done exactly that.

The reality is that it is all under your control, far more so than in the risky, offline business world.

What about building traffic, ranking highly at the Search Engines? Do you think that only professionals (called Search Engine Optimizers or “SEOers”) can do that? No, in fact you have the huge advantage.

Search Engines are in the business of delivering relevant and high-quality results.

No need for luck. No need for SEO expertise. Simply follow and trust the C – T – P – M process.

It’s through the Search Engines (SEs) that you will reach your visitors. Most surfers won’t scroll past the first 10-20 listings on a Search Engine’s search results pages. That is where you will be.

And second, the description about your site will have to be interesting and credible. So you will “get the click.”

When a visitor finds you through a Search Engine like Google (or Yahoo! Search or Windows Live), think of how smart s/he feels. After all, s/he found you. You didn’t advertise (actually, once you build traffic, you can sell advertising!). All that remains is for you to OVERdeliver — PREsell!

Once you realize the logic and power of C – T – P – M, then you know that success really is DO-able. It is indeed “yours to be had.” And if you don’t succeed immediately, keep trying until you find the right approach.

You only fail when you quit. Patience and persistence ultimately rule the day. Or, to quote Calvin Coolidge…

Persistence wins. Keep pushing it… the business you build will take on its own momentum. It will fulfill all your objectives, if you put in the BAM (“Brain and Motivation”), the time and persistence that are required to grow anything that is worth achieving.

Bottom line…

You understand C – T – P – M. More importantly, you are ready to invest (and “invest” is the perfect word!) time to build C – T – P before you Monetize. Once you do, converting PREsold visitors into money is the easiest (and most fun!) part of your online business

Step 3 — Monetize! Maximize Conversion Rate and profits.

Monetizing PREsold visitors is easier than falling off the proverbial log. DAY 4 discusses the wide variety of ways you can monetize. We’ll cover this topic at that time.

The key point for now is… You are not your monetization model. Do not think about “being an affiliate” or “selling an e-good.” As a matter of fact, do not decide upon any one monetization method.

First and foremost, you are in the “Content Delivery Business.” Then you monetize.

And… Diversify. Have several strong streams of income. For example…

One of your pages may feature Google AdSense ads and affiliate links. You might choose to add an e-commerce store to sell hard goods. And you sell some e-books via ClickBank, too.

However you monetize, do not push your visitors. Let the content pull them through to your revenue-generating locations rather than stopping them in their track.

This could be a link to a sales page for your product or service, to your merchant-partner’s site or to a click on a Google AdSense ad, for example.

Instead of pushing them, make them want to click. It makes all the difference if your visitors feel that it’s their idea to deliver your “Most Wanted Response” (“MWR”).

Once you have PREsold traffic, monetizing is limited only by your imagination!

So let’s not worry about that now. Instead, let’s talk about the broader concept of profits…

There is an easy business equation to follow in order to maximize profit. It’s the same equation, whether you are working online or off…

INCOME minus EXPENSES equals PROFIT.

It’s not a complicated equation, true! But people tend to forget about it.

If you can increase the amount of money that is coming into your business, and lower the amount of money that is going out of your business, you will have more money staying with your business.

So let’s start shifting that profit equation in your favor (and your bank account’s!) by improving the first part of the equation…

Income

There are two major ways to increase income (i.e., the amount of money you make through your products, services, and/or other monetization efforts). You need to…

1) Expose more visitors to your monetization models…

This means that you need to attract more targeted traffic, people who are specifically interested in your theme and your topics (related to that theme) on your Web site. High-value content is the key factor behind traffic volume and your ability to increase and sustain it. And here’s the good news…

If you get the keywords “right” on your page and if you have great content, you will have substantial, evergrowing traffic! And here’s the best news…

Once you have this traffic on your site, your “Most Wanted Response” (“MWR”) can vary…

* If you are a service seller, the MWR is a click on the “Submit” button on the Contact Form to reach you — close the deal and secure a work contract.

* If you are a product seller (hard or digital goods), the MWR is a click on the “Buy” button on your order page.

* If you are an affiliate, the MWR is a “click-through” to the sites of the merchant-partners that you represent.

* If you are a pure infopreneur (i.e., no “customers”), Google AdSense will play a large part — there are ways to place your Google Ads to maximize clicks (and your income!). And there are other ways to earn income without ever dealing with a customer!

2) Maximize the percentage of visitors who “click” (i.e., your Conversion Rate)

No matter what, your goal is to “get the click.” Convert your visitors into clicks, which in turn convert into money — maximize those clicks!

Conversion Rate is nothing more than the percentage of visitors who click and convert into dollars, one way or another. Great content and proper strategies maximize your Conversion Rate, no matter how you monetize.

Your visitors arrived on your site, loved your content, and either decided your recommendation was credible or were interested in a Google ad or bought your e-book. They clicked!

Content… to traffic… to click… to dollars of income. The higher your Conversion Rate, the higher your income!

Let’s use an affiliate business to illustrate. In this case, the CR would mean the percentage of visitors to your merchant-partner’s site who deliver the response for which the merchant pays, whether that’s a click, a lead or a sale.

The more traffic you receive, the more chances you have to increase your CR. For example, you refer 100 visitors per day to a merchant-partner and 1% buy. You get paid for that one purchase. But if you send 1,000 visitors per day and 3% buy, you get paid for 30 purchases!

Yes, C – T – P – M can increase your merchant-partner’s CR.

Thirty-fold more income. That is the power of traffic and PREselling. And that is what

C – T – P – M delivers.

Now for the second part of the profit equation…

Expenses

Every business has expenses. Maximizing profits does not imply that you must minimize expenses totally. After all, if you spend no money or time on your business… you have no business!

This process saves you countless hours, too. And time is money. Naturally, like every startup, you still invest time upfront to reap your rewards later. Unlike “traditional” online business-building, every hour spent researching is time perfectly spent.

For the first while, traffic and income will be low. That’s normal — you are an entrepreneur building a business, not an employee (“the entrepreneurial mindset”). And then…

The build starts. Like a snowball gaining momentum and size, your business grows and grows… life changes.

Lets move on

* Offline, it’s all about “location, location, location.” You put your business where crowds go. Passerby traffic!

-AND-

* Online, millions search for “information, information, information.” But they do it solo. There is NO such thing as “passerby traffic.”

You are really ready if you understand that the M is the easiest part of C – T – P – M .

And speaking of C…

To succeed online, you must start where your “pre-customers” start…

People search for information, look for solutions. They are not looking for you. Give them what they want by converting your knowledge into high-quality, in-demand CONTENT.

Before you can do that, you must figure out…

* what they seek

* how often they search for it

* how badly they want it

* what competitors already provide, and how they do it

* what Content you will deliver, and how

Your next goal is to find your best Site Concept.

The rest of your business rides on your choice of Site Concept.

Let’s talk a bit about site concept.

Here is how you will get to your Best Site Concept…

1) Create a list of potential Site Concepts and choose your top 3.

* Everyone Knows Something About Something

* Three Site Concepts? Why Three?

* Do Some Quick Research.

2) Use tools like www.wordtracker.com and google adwords https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal! to research Site Concept(s). Research keywords for each of your top 3 Site Concepts. To arrange and research your keywords even further,I recommend you use http://www.keywordresearchlab.com/

3) Evaluate the following factors for each Site Concept…

* Number of Keywords

* Profitability

* Knowledge

* Passion

* Theme “Sexiness”

* Monetization Potential

What Is a Site Concept?

It is the central theme, the niche, upon which you will base all of your site’s Content (hence the term “Theme-Based Content Site”). Every page that you write will be about a topic that is related to your Site Concept. Each one of those topical pages focuses on a Specific Keyword, which is why I also call these pages “Keyword-Focused Content Pages (“KFCPs”).

Now to finding your Site Concept… your theme… your niche that you CAN master.

There is plenty of room for more than one Web site in any niche. Don’t worry when you find competitors. You have a huge advantage, — remember that 99% of small business sites fail, even the most gorgeous ones that cost $20,000 to build! So…

How to Recognize Your Best Site Concept

A great “Site Concept” must…

* be in demand. A reasonable number of people must be searching for information about your theme. If your theme is too n- (ex., an unknown off-island-off-an-off-island in the Caribbean), there is not enough demand for you to monetize, even if your entire (too tiny) market finds you!

* not be too broad. If your Site Concept is too broad, the competition will be severe. The number of competing Web pages is just too great, especially since broad themes usually have major competitors. For example, it is impossible to “own” the theme of “travel.” Leave those super-broad themes to companies like expedia.com. Even the Site Concept of “Caribbean” is highly competitive. If you have 60 hours per week and are ready to work for a year, you might succeed. But creating a site about one of the islands is your best opportunity…

o You most likely know a lot about one island. And that goes for “islands of knowledge,” not just geographic islands!

o The competition will be less intense. So it will be easier for your well-written content pages to rank highly with the free Search Engines.

o Those who find you will be highly targeted. They will be much more interested in your Content. It is far easier to PREsell those searching for topics (“keywords”) related to n- themes than broad ones.

* excite you. Choose something that you know and love (or that you are willing to find out more about). If you do that, writing lots of information-packed content pages becomes an easy pleasure instead of work. Think “passion” and “knowledge” — if you have it, it will shine in your content.

* deliver high ROI potential. It must offer excellent options for monetizing traffic to your site. This ensures the ROI (Return On Investment) you want. Make every visitor to your site a possible income-generator.

Bottom line on choosing your Site Concept?…

It takes just as much time to build a low-potential business as a high-potential one. So invest the time now, get the Site Concept right, and you will maximize your returns later, earning far more income per hour invested down the road.

The Plan… How to Develop Your Best Site Concept

Most people fail in any business because they don’t plan adequately. If you pick the wrong concept for your site, if you develop the wrong topics for your Web pages… you’ll get the wrong results…

No traffic = No income.

This will not be your fate. So get to work on your Best Site Concept Plan…

Step 1 – Create a list of potential Site Concepts and choose your top 3.

Write down ideas for good “Site Concepts” as they hit you — make your list as long as you can. What do you know and love? What have you learned “on the job?” As you read the daily newspaper, or watch a talk show on TV, or chat with friends/colleagues, or browse a book store, keep your antennae up for new ideas.

Think… you may know so much about something that you overlook it

Everyone Knows Something About Something

What’s under your nose?

Three Site Concepts? Why Three?

What if you only have one idea for a niche? Well, you won’t have anything to compare against. In general, it’s best to develop a “top 3″ and then use www.wordtracker.com or google’s adwords tool! to compare and pick the best.

Developing ideas for your best three Site Concepts is important, so take your time doing this. Remember… the final concept will be your business foundation.

OK, let’s go… Pick the three areas that you love the most and that you think would appeal to others. After all, if no one is interested in your niche, you won’t get much traffic. Without traffic, you might as well not have a Web site. You’d be invisible (just like 99.9% of internet business sites)!

Already Have a Business? Refine It to the Best Site Concept.

If you have an established business, you already know the general theme/concept of your site. Now you need to determine the most profitable way to approach your concept. Just like the jazz example above, you can “spin” any theme in many directions…

* reflect what “solution” your business provides, or…

* target a particular segment of your market, or…

* deliver a specific angle, etc.

It’s all about how you choose to spin it. Jot down some different Site Concepts related to your business.

Choose concepts that are not too broad in nature (ex., “travel” is too competitive). But don’t make your niche too n- (ex., that unknown off-off-island in the Caribbean) — not enough people search for “too-n-” niches.

The Goldilocks “just-right” niche is enough for you to ultimately “master,” but is also wide enough that there is enough DEMAND (i.e., enough people doing searches at the engines) for you to build significant traffic. Choose on the basis of “your gut and brain”…

* If you love the subject matter, others likely do, too. Good themes that are “just right” have an audience that identifies with the subject matter.

* If you know an area, you already have a pretty good idea of what might be “too broad” or “too n-.”

Use Common Sense

What is “too broad?” It’s any idea where the market is too big. For example, “travel” was an extreme example. “Italy” is too broad. Choose “Sicily” instead (if you know it.) And “New York” is too broad. Instead, try “Tribeca”… or go with “New York Pizzas” instead (if you love them!).

“Too n-” is the opposite. There just aren’t enough people interested in Caltanissetta, a city in Sicily. Sicily is “just right.”

“But how do I know whether it’s too n- or too broad if I’m just starting out?”

Good question! Use your common sense and knowledge of each niche, of course. And there is one good technique that helps, too!

So what are the key factors and their guidelines?

#1) Number of Keywords

A Site Concept that delivers more keywords is better. It offers the ability to create more Content. So, everything else being equal, choose the Site Concept with 300 pruned keywords over the one for which only 100 “made your cut.”

#2) Overall Profitability

The more keywords that have higher Demand, lower Supply and higher Profitability (Value Demand/Real Supply ratio), the better. Again, this is not an absolute, just an indication. Use your judgment.

Compare the overall Profitability of one Site Concept to another. How many solidly profitable keywords does each have? (Remember… the Profitability numbers are useful, but use your judgment to make the final decisions.)

#3) Knowledge

Think about each keyword as the topic for a future Web page (that is what it will become). Do you already know what you could write for those words? Obviously, lean towards the Site Concept that you know the best.

#4) Passion

Just as important… which Site Concept excites you the most? Choose a less profitable Site Concept if the thought of building a site about it excites you much more! It will be fun to create interesting Web pages about the subject area and to do the necessary research to stay current. It’s not work if it’s fun.

#5) Theme “Sexiness”

It’s not just your excitement that counts. Some Site Concepts are more apt to excite visitors. Trust your gut feel about which would excite visitors the most . It’s easy to PREsell your way to a strong “Brand Of One” with a fun, exciting theme.

#6) Monetization Potential

Look for a Site Concept that offers the potential for you to build multiple streams of income. C T P is useless if there is no M potential!

You must be able to Monetize your PREsold traffic. And the more ways to do that, the merrier. How many of the following could you (eventually) implement on each Site Concept, and with what kind of financial potential?…

* Represent the products/services of related, non-competing online businesses (i.e., affiliate income).

* Partner with an offline business, sending them customers, on a pay-per-click, per-lead, per-sale, or per-month basis

* Sell your hard good or e-book.

• Earn income by placing advertising on your site, such as Google AdSense, or by selling advertising directly. (Guess what? As your site grows, advertisers will approach you!)

• Sell your services (ex., develop clients for your copywriting or java-programming business).

• Supplement/build your local offline business.

• Attract more bidders for your eBay auctions.

• Build warm leads for your Network Marketing (“MLM”) venture.

• Rent — anything from heavy equipment to extras for movies to your own Cayman Island villa.

• Traffic — send traffic to your own e-commerce business (ex., your Yahoo! store or e-commerce site).

Finalize your Site Concept and get a good Domain name.

Now you do have your Content Blueprint and Monetization plan firmly in hand. All that stands between you and your perfect domain name is a little bit more work.

Refine your Site Concept and register your domain name…

1. Make key decisions.

* What’s the VPP?

* What’s the spin?

* How narrow do you go?

* Other considerations?

2.Work on content for content is King and vital for PREselling and VPP selection.

3. Final evaluation… Loop back, if necessary.

4.Name that domain

Step 1 – Make key decisions.

It’s time to do some final evaluating and thinking. Time to make final adjustments to your Site Concept and domain name by answering the following questions, which go above and beyond the “know and love your niche” basic advice of earlier.

What’s the VPP?

A Valuable PREselling Proposition (“VPP”) answers, in very few words and hopefully with just a touch of character, two critical questions about your Site Concept…

* What specific and high-value information does your site deliver?

* What is your unique positioning for this delivery (i.e., your angle of approach — more on this in a second)?

A good VPP transmits these answers loud and clear. And the single best way to do that is to include your VPP in your domain name!

Do not be “OVERclever” or subtle here. Include your Concept Keyword and add the VPP “marketing angle/theme” to it. Make your VPP/concept crystal-clear to your human visitor. And, of course, the engines rank your site a touch higher when your Concept Keyword is included in your domain name — so feed it to the spiders.

What’s the Spin? (AKA “Positioning”)

Decide upon your angle of approach. How are you positioning the information? I have a teenage friend who writes about her adventures on the cayman islands. If her site is called cayman-island-beaches.com. An older person might write in a more sophisticated tone for a site that he would call high-net-worth-cayman-island.com.

See how the positioning can change a domain name? See how it will attract and hold a completely different subset of people who are interested in The Cayman Islands?

Your domain name must contain your Site Concept keyword, of course. But the days are long gone when caymanislands.com would be available. Of course, if your “keyword.com” is available, grab it. Otherwise, use the “extra words” in your domain name to transmit your Valuable PREselling Proposition.

How Wide or Narrow Do You Go?

The scope of your niche should be as narrow as possible, yet still offer lots of profit potential! Every success story starts small, then builds. And if you’re like most people, you don’t have the time to flesh out a big, broad concept (ex., the entire “Caribbean” — stick with “a particular island”) all at once. If time is a limiting factor, stay especially narrow.

More reasons to go narrow…

* It will be tough to win at the SEs if your concept is too broad.

* Competition is “bigger and badder” in the big pond — better to be a big fish in a small pond.

* You’ll need to create a lot more content and devote much more time.

* You almost surely have more knowledge and passion for the narrow option.

* Same for your visitors — tight, focused niches attract highly targeted customers who are easier to PREsell.

Choose a niche that “PREsells well.” It’s harder to PREsell a broad concept — the narrower the niche, the more targeted the visitor… and the more enthusiastic. But if your topic is too narrow (ex., “Norwegian fashion models from the mid-1700′s”!), the target market may be too small — you may need to broaden the concept somewhat (ex., “Scandinavian fashion models”).

Other Considerations…

1. Don’t mix themes on your site or in your domain name. You’ll dilute your site’s Search Engine effectiveness and cloud the message to your visitors. Everything, from the domain name onwards, must all pull in the same direction. So, cayman-island-beaches.com does not write about Antigua or Barbados.

Search Engines are concentrating more and more on the theme of the overall site. So if you choose to develop a broad concept, with several major sub-themes, it will be harder to win the war for the sub-themes than if you dedicated a single site to a sub-theme. In other words… the nichier, the better.

2. Review your Notepads. Do your Ideas For Content point you in any interesting directions? Any special Monetization ideas? Keep notes and they will help you later.

3. “Flow towards the money.” Your domain name/Site Concept/VPP/content should all flow naturally towards your Monetization options… the products or services you sell or recommend, your local business, etc.

Yes, even flow towards your Google ads (click here for an example). Think the “flow to the money” process through.

4. Remember both types of visitors… Spiders and Humans

* Register a Search-Engine-friendly domain name, one that contains your Site Concept keyword. That’s the easy part.

* To the Site Concept part of the domain name, add a word (or two) that communicates your VPP. If it can catch the “voice” (“attitude”), that’s even better (but hard to do while keeping it short).

Planning to sell a product (hard or digital goods) or service? Let’s clarify the difference between VPP and USP.

A USP (“Unique Selling Proposition”) is your service or product’s most powerful benefit, in combination with a strong, unique aspect of your business. It answers that critical question…

“Why should I buy from (or hire) you?”

Where does your USP belong? Not in your domain name.

Not on your home page. It actually only belongs on one page…

The page that sells your product or service. Never forget…

PREsell first (VPP), then sell (USP).

Here’s a simple exercise to help you develop your USP…

STEP 1) Write down what your business provides.

STEP 2) Outline the key benefit(s) to your client. What pain does it cure, what solution does it provide?

STEP 3) Identify your unique feature/benefit. What makes you stand out? Keep working on this until you can clearly separate yourself from the field. There must be a convincing reason for doing business with you… instead of your competitor.

STEP 4) Summarize all of the above into one tight, powerful, motivating phrase that will persuade your clients to do business with you, to trade their money for the benefits you deliver.

This is a lot harder than it looks. But don’t give up! Your competition is only a click away. So your USP must convince your visitors that YOU are IT, and that your product is THE ONE.

There’s a second tremendous benefit to this exercise… you will learn much about you, your product, and your customer!

Step 2 – Work on content for content is King and vital for PREselling and VPP selection.

Now that you are ready to create valuable, PREselling Content, you need even more research

Writing to PREsell is about bringing your personality and already existing communication skills to the keyboard. It’s about building personality, a unique spin, likeability, content with zip, etc., into your site.

Your “spin” or unique positioning is one of your most important decisions. Everything, including your PREselling voice, follows from it.

Visitors know great content when they read it. Winning, PREselling content “works” at several levels…

1. It has a “been there… done that” voice and flair.

2. It has specific, “zing knowledge” that comes from real experience.

3. It is supported by a depth of useful information. This is where good reference material plays an important part.

4. It is consistent, from page to page, from e-zine issue to issue, from week to month to year.

5. It is for the customer, absolutely.

Good PREselling is critical to your success. You don’t PREsell after you’ve written the Content. You do it BEFORE you write — you plan it as you finalize what your Content will be. Good PREselling means…

1. write to communicate

2. develop your own “voice” with flair and substance

3. spin your site/biz/SELF into a unique position

4. honestly convince people to trust and like you.

Do You Think You CanNOT Write?

Relax. If you can communicate at all, you can write. We all communicate each day. At work. At home. With our boss, our colleagues. With our spouses, our children. With our friends and our adversaries.

We all communicate and build our “Brand of One” in “the real world,” everyday. And yet, many people turn into turnips when they have to “write.”

Smile There is no good reason to become a “keyboard-turnip.”

I recommend Net Writing Masters Course http://www.six-bucks.net/netwritingmasters.zip.it is the only book in the world that shows you how to communicate with your keyboard, too. Use the guidance and strategies outlined in Net Writing Masters Course to create winning, relevant, info-packed content pages that make your site stand out from the crowd, that open your visitors’ minds to your monetization offerings woven into your site.

Content is the foundation of the C T P M process. Get it right and everything else falls into place!

Getting your VPP voice and positioning “just right” are so important. Net Writing Masters Course virtually guarantees that your site will shine. So take the time to print, read, and dog-ear this short, easy-to-read e-book.

Step 3 – Final evaluation… Loop back, if necessary.

By now, you are confident and excited — you’ve got it right. You have found the “right” blend of specificity and profit potential. You know your positioning and your target market. And you have both your Content Blueprint in hand and a Monetization plan that outlines several ways to monetize those who find and love your content.

What if you don’t?

If you are concerned at this point that your Site Concept is too broad or too narrow, or that it’s “just right” but does not project the expected profit potential, you have several “loop back” options…

i) Loop back and review/improve your monetization plan.

-OR-

ii) Loop back and brainstorm more high-profit keywords. Grow and fine-tune your Content Blueprint.

-OR-

iii) Loop back and develop a whole new Site Concept.

Some people who should do this, do not. Why not?

Tired Because they don’t want to feel that they wasted all the time invested up to now. The thought of doing it all over makes them feel tired, depressed, frustrated. But this is merely a problem that needs solving. And remember this…

* Looping back, even if it’s “all the way” to the beginning would not be a waste. It would be a tremendous saving in future time and energy.

* And “doing it all over” for a new Site Concept, if you do need to go back , is a snap. Now that you’ve done it once, the entire brainstorming process can be done in 2-3 days to one hour depending on your pace.

Recognize that you’re “in it” more for the passion than the money. Is your site just a hobby? Do you just want to build a site about something you love? Are profits secondary? If so, go for it! Your passion can be its own rewards.

As long as you recognize that now, you won’t be disappointed… and might be pleasantly surprised. Passion does go a long way!

But if the M of C T P M is important, loop as far back as necessary until you are sure that your research will indeed “show you the money.”

Step 4 – Ready? Name that domain!

A good domain…

* is short and sharp

* is meaningful — conveys a clear message

* is easy to spell

* is easy to remember

* is unique, descriptive, and “you”

* is solid, classic, not hokey

* contains your VPP for human visitors

* contains your Site Concept keyword for spider visitors

* is attractive to humans (ex., “cayman-island-beaches.com” “cayman island” is there for the engines and “beaches” is there for humans)

* ends in the classy “.com,” “.net” or “.org” (by far, the best regarded by surfers).

When do you use dashes in your domain name?

If both versions of a 3-or-more-word domain are available, use dashes because they make the word breaks more obvious to the eye. Also, the engines usually treat a dash as a space. So it may be more likely to “see” the entire string as separate words.

For example, which is easier to read?…

pricing-on-the-net.com or… pricingonthenet.com

Dashes are less important if your domain name has only two words in it. See how netpricing.com and cyberpricing.com don’t really need the help of a dash?

Use dashes (even if the domain only has two words) if the non-dash version is already being used by someone else. But be sure that you are not violating anyone’s trademark (details on this below).

Note: If your business is 99%+ online, the offline issues of dealing with dashes are not so important (i.e., telling people how to spell it, people forgetting to put the dash after reading your print ad, etc.).

Here’s the bottom line…

Domain names are so cheap that it’s a good idea to take both versions (with and without the dash), just to make sure that a competitor does not take names that could be confused with yours. You can always make one domain point to the main one.

Offline vs. Online, and Branding

If you already have an offline business, it may be important to use your business name as your domain name rather than create a new domain name for it. On the other hand, you could give the site a name that uses your VPP, then use a domain redirector in your hosting to park and redirect your business name to your site. This works particularly well with business cards and other forms of offline, local marketing.

If you want to brand your site, you’ll want to get really creative and come up with a one word domain name. For example, if you wanted to brand a site about credit cards, you might use the name “creditopia.com” or “crediteria.com” (sorry, they’re both taken!). Easy to remember, and have a VPP (“credit utopia” or “credit cafeteria”).

Or you may find a domain name by simply adding a letter or two as a prefix or suffix to your site concept keyword (ex., icallcard.com).

You’ll have to be more creative to come up with a short domain name that’s still available, but a little extra time spent now could pay big dividends later.

Special Words of Advice…

What Separates Successful People From Those Who Fail?

The famous story of Thomas Edison is that he didn’t fail to create a light bulb 1,000 times. He learned 1,000 ways not to make a light bulb.

A failure merely means that one or more mistakes were made. Learn from them. Try again — you will be much smarter the second time around

Some people have character traits that hurt their chances at success. We do our best to help them overcome their barriers. Everyone should work to self-improve, especially those with “failure pre-set” — they are their own worst enemies, almost seeming determined to fail.

The Tortoise

Eliminate any “Get Rich Quick” ideas that the Internet may have put into your head. GRQ does not exist.

You stand at the start of a trend that will grow geometrically over the coming years… C T P M … building income through content.

More and more small business owners are beginning to realize…

No matter which monetization options you choose, you must first have targeted traffic and lots of it. And to attract that traffic, you must first build high-value focused content.

High-value content, content that gets found, is the critical lynchpin for building a viable, profitable, vibrant Web business.

So not only are you ready, you have a huge head start…

You are leading the trend! And what a trend it is! For some inspiring role models, see success in action…

Ultimately, it all comes down to what one of my “hero entrepreneurs” once said. I’ll repeat it here because perseverance is the single most common “must-have” on the road to success…

“How to succeed? Try hard enough.”

— Malcolm Forbes (1919-1990)

Why most people fail

Why did most people fail? I think the reason was that the whole process of running an online business is just too complicated for most people. There are lots of ways to screw it up. It pained me to visit some of those sites and notice a dozen glaring mistakes within the first few seconds — blogs that didn’t enable permalinks, cutesy headlines with no keywords in them, bad choice of topics, page titles that still used the WordPress default format, hideously suboptimal ad layouts, hidden or missing contact info, etc. Any one of those mistakes could cripple a site’s results. More than one is a practically a death sentence. Such mistakes cause problems both for human visitors and search engines.

But at the same time, there were teenagers humming along just fine, generating four figures in monthly income after working on their sites for 6-12 months. They didn’t necessarily get everything right, but they were Internet savvy enough to fix the big problems early.

What bothered me most about this was that people were too often failing because of the technology. Many of them had great ideas and very good content. It was a shame to read some of their articles and think to myself, This is great stuff… too bad no one will ever see it.

The cruel and unfair part of online business is that if you aren’t very Internet savvy, you’ll make mistakes on the technical side that you’re totally oblivious to. You may get the content side right, but the technology will bite you and cripple your results.

But it’s still a pretty unfair situation. There are people who can write great content who really deserve to be getting a lot of readers, but because they don’t understand permalinks, RSS feeds, pinging, or other technologies, they’re doomed before they start.

Once I saw this happening, I basically decided I’d better shut up about encouraging people to run an online business. People kept asking me for new articles on the subject, but I didn’t think it was a good idea. I was concerned I’d be doing more harm than good.

A new solution

Recently I came across a vastly superior solution to this problem — a way for people to build a successful online business that doesn’t require them to become technology gurus.

What I recommend is a service called Site Build It! – it’s an all-in-one solution for creating and building an online business. You pay an annual fee for the service, and they provide you with all the tools you need to build an income-generating web site. They host the site for you, they help you register your domain name, and they provide integrated tools like point-and-click page generators, built-in blogging, form builders, RSS feeds, and lots more. Many of these details will be handled for you, so you don’t have to worry about them.

You still create your own content, and you use their tools (or your own familiar tools) to create a site based on your unique ideas. You focus on the content side. They help you with the technical implementation side.

I don’t recommend this solution for everyone. If you’ve already built a successful website that generates thousands of dollars a month for you, you won’t need this. I don’t need it myself. But if you’re one of those people that have been held back by the technical complexity, then this is definitely something you should look at. This is the kind of solution I’d recommend in a heartbeat for my non-programmer friends who want to get something going online but quickly become lost in a sea of jargon.

There’s a lot to explain about this service and why I think it’s a great idea for most people interested in building a successful online business. So I wrote a whole separate article about that here

Site Build It is a suite of tools for building a website. Site Build It! (Site Build It!) the only all-in-one site-building, site-hosting, and site-marketing product that makes it easy to build a professional, popular, and profitable business.

they follow all the techniques i have listed here and even add more to ensure success.

I have not used the product personally, but if what they claim is true, which should be cos they have a huge customer base and they seem very happy ,then i recommend you get Site Build It and be on yoru way to success.

Before you do i recommend you check out these links

Site Build It Product page.
http://buildit.sitesell.com/moneyorganization.html

I’m probably turning into a bit of a salesperson for Site Build It! because I really believe this is a great deal for a lot of people. Not only will building your own online business give you a quantum leap in your own personal development, but it can also provide income to fuel your ongoing growth.

I wish you all the very best.

Choosing the Right Aquarium – a Fresh Water or a Saltwater

An aquarium can be a great addition to your interior decorations. If you are looking to add a certain level of style and beauty to your home or office, having an aquarium can do just that. While deciding to choose an aquarium for your house you may have wondered which one to choose from. There are endless possibilities when setting up an aquarium in your own home. If you are installing aquarium for the first time, you need to know many tit bits of keeping fish healthy and in a comfortable environment.

For people who are new to domesticating fish, starting with a small tank with less number of fishes is a good idea. This will give them time to understand the needs and will train them in many aspects that need to be taken care of before installing a fish aquarium or constructing a fish pond. For starters, the tank will need a pond pump, lighting, hood to prevent the fish from jumping out, a filter to keep the water clean, water testing kit for PH water levels etc. And when switching to a larger aquarium or a fish pond you will require many aquarium accessories like aquarium pumps, pond filters and pump, pond liners, water fountains, garden fountains and many other pond and aquarium supplies.

Know lets talk about which one to choose-a freshwater aquarium or a saltwater one. Many people choose a freshwater aquarium over a saltwater aquarium without really looking into the benefits and drawbacks of both. In my opinion if you have a good budget to invest on your aquarium needs, then you should definitely look into a saltwater aquarium. While people tend to go the freshwater direction due to the fact that it is a much cheaper alternative, the beauty and variety that having a saltwater aquarium affords you is not easily surpassed.

Moreover in a saltwater aquarium, you have much more variety of tropical fish to choose from. Clownfish, Hawk Fish, Blue Tang and many more varieties can be bred in a saltwater aquarium. The tropical fish are bright, colorful and lively —all of the things that you need in an aquarium to help you feel better about your space and more alive. The fish that you can have in a saltwater aquarium are a great deal more exotic and beautiful than anything a freshwater aquarium could house.

Maintenance is yet another factor that should be considered while choosing a tropical aquarium for your house. If you don’t’ have time to indulge in aquarium maintenance, having a saltwater aquarium is a bad idea. There are people who tend to go the freshwater direction due to the fact that it is a much cheaper alternative and need less maintenance and cleaning. Whatever type you choose an aquarium definitely adds a touch of your personal character to a home or office environment.

What equipment or device creates that fine mist of air bubbles in saltwater tanks?

Like what you see in pet stores a lot. Where the water looks clouded with air bubbles
That’s some great advice, copperhead…thank you very much.

It could have been either from a powerhead or overflow from a protein skimmer. It can even happen if they have the display units with all connected by common plumbing and the water level in the sump was too low and air was getting caught ib the pump that returned water from the sump to the main tanks. But you can get a finer mist even with an airstone because the higher density of the water (because of the addition of salt) will make ny bubbles produced finer.

While the fine mist may seem attractive visually, to anyone who keeps saltwater, it means the tank you saw has something that wasn’t working properly. You don’t want to have fine bubbles like these getting into the tank – they get trapped under live rock and combine to for larger pockets of ait, and these kill any marine organisms (including the bacteria that cycle they wastes in the tank) in that area. They can also attach to the slime coat of fish and act as an irritant.

Since the added salt also means that there’s less ability of the water to hold dissolved oxygen, equipment that produces very fine bubbles inside the equipment (like a protein skimmer) are desirable to increase the dissolved oxygen content, but you don’t want to have the actual bubbles leaving the equipment, so the flow rate should be adjusted lower, a baffle used, or the water level in the sump raised.

Fly Fishing in the Unspoilt Waters of Canada

Canada is a beautiful country with so many places where you can practice the art of fly fishing with some very satisfying results. Fly fishing in Canada can not only give you the experience of catching a diverse variety of fish, but it also gives you the beauty and scenery that is almost second to none. Fishing in this type of environment is the perfect way to ease your stresses and make for a very satisfying fishing experience.

The northern reaches of Canada are the home to some exceptional lakes and rivers providing fishing for pike, salmon, and the legendary brook trout. With the exception of Lake Michigan, all the Great Lakes have a Canadian shore. Southwestern Ontario is surrounded by Lake Erie, Lake Ontario, Lake Huron, and Georgian Bay.

Rivers like the Saugeen, Maitland, Grand, Credit, and Nottawasaga would be famous if they flowed through U.S. soil, but they are relatively obscure because they are in an area not noted for its fly fishing heritage. Local anglers have a tendancy to go north to chase pike, walleye and bass in lakes despite the quality river fishing on their doorsteps.

There are intimate trout streams in this area of Canada with wild fish and top-notch tail waters with big, well educated brown trout. Ontario’s smallmouth rivers equal any river bass fishery in the world, and there are dozens of rivers with steelhead and salmon runs that rival those in the United States.

An added incentive to fish in this area is that you don’t have to travel far into the wilderness. The accommodation, restaurants, guides, tackle shops, and other entertainment options are abundant. This is made even more attractive as the Canadian currency is also weaker than the US Dollar, so your money stretches further, north of the border.

The Grand and the Conestogo rivers are two tail water fisheries in southern Ontario that offer excellent access to good populations of feisty brown trout. The Grand is designated a Canadian Heritage River and has seen an unbelievable transformation over the last 20 years. Water quality improvements, top-notch management, beautiful scenery, and a solid stocking program have made it one of the top destinations for brown trout in Eastern Canada. But be advised, its one thing to find a big fish feeding but quite another to consistently fool these old browns.

The management philosophy of the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources is to work towards strong wild fisheries. Therefore, the majority of the steelhead in Ontario are wild fish, and you will have your hands full trying to subdue them. Depending on water conditions, strong runs of fish are common throughout the fall in just about any of the Great Lakes tributaries in Southern Ontario.

You can find some amazing fly fishing in Canada when you take the time to look for it. Not only will you be met with some beautiful scenery, but you will be landing some great fish. Fly fishing in Canada is well worth the travel. Those that have fished in Canada always come back, and keep coming back for one of the best fly fishing experiences in the world!

What about hooks and containers for the fish (I know he will be interested in keeping some of the fish we catch in our 55gal, so we may do that.
Or what about a fish net for catching wild fish or tadpoles, for our spare 10gal?

I would say the second one. LL Bean makes a great kids fishing set. It’s a little pricey but well worth it if you think he will take up fishing. Here’s a link:

Surf fishing would require an appropriate gear called as the surf fishing gear. If you are an experienced surf angler then you might exactly target the surf fish you want to catch. However, we provide you simple options to get a trophy in saltwater surf fishing using your normal saltwater fishing gear but specially optimized for surf fishing gear. Get a good gear and set up live bait. You must get two rigs for surfing. These rigs should be very accurate, so one can get them in shop or one can do them on their own. One of the rigs is called as the fireball rig and the other called as the free lining rig. Depending on the type of bait used, you must decide on the hook size. Sometimes you can get circular hooks that may very easily bring your fish by mouth. Especially if you are into beach fishing just for sport then make yourself an oath that you will catch and release fishes. In that situation, you might use this circular hook to remove the fish safely and leave them back in water.

What kind of equipment is needed for ocean fishing?

I will be in Jamaica for a few weeks and wanted to do some fishing from piers, rocks and surf. I have fished all my life for freshwater walleye, bass, pike, and so on.
Ocean fishing is something I am ignorant of and could use some tips for equipment, tactics, lures, and baits. Any Info would be great or any cool links.
I will be taking several orphan boys with me and their success and enjoyment is my goal, Thank you.
Bondservant

Okuma makes a good line of spinning reels that are attractively priced. I would stay away from conventional reels because of possible birds nest when casting. A 7′ to 8′, medium to heavy action, 2 piece rod would be a good all purpose rod for pier, rocks, and surf. I would ask the locals what the best baits and lures would be for the species of fish around at that time. Saltwater fish migrate so what might be hot 1 week might not be hot the next.

Good luck!!!

Fly-fishing, A Fun Sport

Fly-fishing, a fun sport

Fly-fishing is an ancient angling method especially effective in catching trout and salmon. This distinct method of angling uses artificial flies to lure or excite fish. Fly-fishing helps anglers catch the fish easier than the traditional way.

There are two basic forms of fly-fishing, dry flies and wet flies.

Dry flies need coating with floatant in order for it to sit in the surface of the water. Dry flies are mostly effective in upstream and moving water. Dry flies help anglers’ spot where fish resides like pools and pocket in streams. Thus, it is easier to detect them and catch the fish.

The use of wet flies is beneath the surface of the water. Wet flies are nymphs, lures and true wet flies. It works as effective as dry flies except that in cases where weeds are many and almost touching the surface, wet flies blends with the weeds and thus may not be as effective as the dry flies.

Fly-fishing was developed in the 19th century, dry fly technique is very effective especially for slower and clearer rivers.

This is because weeds in rich rivers tend to grow closer to the surface, thus traditional wet fly fishing is almost ineffective. Dry fly fishing is thus useful by keeping the fly and the line floating on the surface. This makes fish excited and aggressive; the angler can then spot the location of the fish and in turn catches fish easier.

Later developments of fly-fishing made this concept as basis, thus in the latter part of the 19th century, anglers develop love for fly-fishing. This gave birth to fly-fishing, the sport among its aficionados.

Various parts of the United States host fly-fishing sports such as in the waters of Catskill Mountains of New York and the provinces of Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, British Columbia, Alberta and California.

Anglers in North America also develop various literatures pertaining to fly-fishing. The sport of fly-fishing and all these literatures gave North America the reputation of being the birthplace of dry fly-fishing, specifically the City of Calgary, Alberta. It is arguably one of the world’s best trout rivers, thus it remains to be the epicenter for the Western Fly Fishing in North America.

Various other states in America keeps the growing number of fly-fishers such as Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico, Utah and Arkansas. The growing number of anglers that are drawn to the sport of fly-fishing keeps the popularity at its peak.

Dry or wet fly-fishing, whichever is more effective in the rivers where you fish will help keep the sport exciting. It may not be long that other countries will learn to love the sport and make it a globally loved sport.

How does fly-fishing work?

Fly fishing uses longer and lighter rods; sizes vary from 2m (6 ft) for fresh water and up to 4m (14 ft) for salt water fly-fishing. Weight for fresh water rods are between two to five ounces.

Popular types of casts in fly-fishing follow its variety in situation specifics. Anglers uses common cast when the angler whisks the fly rod forward and back using his forearm and upper arm, the wrist is used to soften the motion.

The rod movement varies from 10 o’clock position to 2 o’clock position without touching the ground. Anglers do this to load the rod tip with energy and to travel the fly line creating distance and control; they call this motion false casting.

False casting needs to be done to excite the fish or make it aggressive enough so that when the fly touches the surface, it will be sure that the area where the fly touches is where most of the fish are located and thus will be easier to spot and catch them.

Whether you are a fly-fishing aficionado for outdoor excitement or having fun with your family, using the proper equipment will help you develop love for the sport. Keep it exciting and enjoy fishing at its finest in most popular fly-fishing locations in the country. There are many locations, thus you will not have a problem in spotting nice locations for you and your family for this wonderful outdoor adventure.

Whay kind of fly tying equipment should I buy?

I am a long time fisherman, but I have recently gotten serious about fly fishing. I am going to start tying my own flies, and I need some info about what kind of equipment to buy.
I have looked at the starter kits, and generally read that the equipment included is of lower quality, and is not great if you want to be a serious fly tyer. What brand/type of equipment would you recommend to someone who wants it to last through years of use and increasing experience?

Price is important as I am a college student with limited resources. Thanks for the help.

Since you are serious about fly fishing, my guess is you will be equally serious about fly tying. With that in mind, I would discourage you from buying any “kit” out there. Why? Because you’ll typically end up with low grade tools and various materials you’ll have little or no use for. Put simply…if you’re serious…you will outgrow it. You’ll spend more money on upgrading tools and acquiring materials than it’s worth. If you just want to try fly tying to see if you like it, then go ahead and buy the kit and dabble with it. But my experience has been this: When funds are limited, it becomes imperative to make the best buying decision initially. You want to make every dollar count. Most kits will have you spending money on no-name tools you’ll want to replace and materials you won’t use. It’s just not cost effective.

If you haven’t already, I’d suggest you get involved in one or more of the many fly fishing forums. Some have very active fly tying message boards where you’ll learn much from enthusiastic tyers that want to share the experience and see that you get started off right.

Think about what types (trout, bass, saltwater, etc) of flies you’ll be tying. For you as an angler, this will typically mean the flies you’ll be regularly using on your outings and will directly influence the materials you’ll be purchasing and, to a lesser extent, your selection of tying tools.

You’ll want to acquire the materials that you’ll need for the flies you’ll be tying. Don’t make the mistake of buying this and that just because it looks interesting or because so-and-so told you you need it. Materials can add ($$) up quickly. The best way to avoid this is to make a list of the flies with which you intend to learn and add to the list some of the flies you’ll want to tie in the very near future, once you’ve got your basic tying skills down. Now make a list of every material required for that list of flies. There will be much repetition, along with the oddball material that’s rarely called for. Using a source of choice, add up the cost of those materials. If it’s more than you’re willing to spend, perhaps you’re being a bit overeager and need to lighten up your list of fly patterns.

As for tools, I don’t want to discourage you from buying new, but I also don’t want to discourage you from getting a great deal on secondhand items. A bit of searching and some “wanted” posts on forums and internet boards could yield a high quality vise at a reasonable price. The good vises are made to last a lifetime…or several…and come with good support from the manufacturers. With the exception of abuse, there is no reason for them to fail and no reason to avoid a good deal when found used.

I still own vises from HMH, Dyna-KIng, Griffin and Thompson (my first) and have tied many hours on others as well. For hook holding power, warranty, value, and exceptional customer service, I’d recommend a Griffin (http://www.griffinenterprisesinc.com/index.htm) product. The Superior 1A & 2A vises will work nicely (and are favorably priced for a US-made vise), and I see the Cam 2A is on sale. Those are solid options that I don’t think you’d go wrong with. As a bonus, any of those vises would travel well should you ever want to tie at your destination; they aren’t poorly made beginner vises you’ll outgrow and have little use for down the road. Other people getting into tying in recent years have been drawn to full rotary vises and often purchase a Peak or Danvise. While they’re okay, I have seen few tyers make good use of the rotary function, and the design complicates a simple tool.

Scissors: Along with the vise, your tying surface, and a tying lamp, this is your most important tool. Don’t go too cheap here. Tempered, serrated blades hold an edge for a long time given reasonable care. Anvil makes a fine scissor at a fair price. There are others, of course. Never use your nice scissors for cutting wire, lead or tinsel. Use cheapo scissors, a razor blade, or nail clippers. Well made scissors can last years if you don’t abuse them.

Misc tools: Your call. Buy what you need and what is comfortable in your hand. Most are made well enough to last. Tyers form their preferences for bobbins. I have found Materelli, Griffin, Tiemco, and Renzetti all make (or made?) bobbins that perform well. You may want yours to have a ceramic tube or ceramic insert. A “Materelli style” whip finisher is usually favored, and you may want a half-hitch tool, dubbing hook, and hackle pliers among other tools. You don’t need to spend money on bobbin threaders, bobbin cleaners, etc. A sewing needle will work for a bodkin, and you razor blades are always handy. Watch out for offbeat tools that perform little function at the vise.

Do you have a dedicated fly shop near you? If so, pay a visit and see what they offer in tools and materials. They may offer tying classes. Often, tools and materials are provided for the class, negating the need to purchase these beforehand. Cabela’s and Bass Pro would never be my first choice. If you have one in your backyard and have happily shopped there before, then go ahead. Otherwise, find a dedicated fly fishing retailer (locally or online) that suits your needs.

Deep Sea Fishing Charters – 2 Tips For Amateurs

As this is not an easy trip and needs a bit of expertise as there are difficult situations and problems involved and unusual conditions fishing in the deep sea, most newcomers would welcome the assistance of a competent charter services to take them deep sea fishing a few miles out into the sea. It is essential to ensure that you have all the proper equipment when you go out into the sea, as you have to ensure that your safety is maintained with no room for problems to endanger it. Deep sea charters will give you all the help you need in making sure that you are properly equipped before you sail out.

1. A list of necessary equipment as a checklist
The charter services normally furnish you with a complete list of equipment that they are providing you with and also let you know what to bring along with you. It is worth you while to go through all this as a check list and ensure that nothing is missing. Mostly the charter company does give you all that you require with the exception of the license for fishing. This you will have to buy from the shore before you leave for the trip. What they would provide you with would be things like reels, rods, lures, nets, baits along with equipment to clean the catch.

New fishing enthusiasts need not worry as they will be told what has not been provided and can always get this stuff for themselves. One of the essentials that they will not provide you with and that you should bring along is a sunblock cream for protection from the UV ray. There is no protection from the sun when you are at sea and it is best to carry a large tube or more of a sunscreen of at least SP 15 or more with you. Water for drinking and a large hat to give you some shade are other necessities that you should have as the heat can create terrible dehydration

2. Extras for the trip
To make it a real fun trip, you could include a lunch box with some beers and sodas also, which can be bought at the charter sight. If you are allowed to bring along your own food and drink you should do this. Though ice and refrigeration will be available for the fish that you catch, you could carry your ice for your drinks. Something that you should not forget is a camera, so that you can keep you experience on film. There will be many new exciting experiences which you will want to keep on record, like new people and the fantastic fish that you have caught. If you are a novice at the fishing game make sure that you get in touch with a fishing charter so that you know what to bring along

sea fishing with bait in and around Arbroath, Scotland any tips?

Im sea fishing from the shore in and around Arbroath, Scotland. I have lived around this area most of my life so i know how rich the fishing can be but i just don’t seem to catch anything. I have been fishing around 3 times a month (will be more when the fly season finishes) for about 8 months!!

I have spend a fortune on bait, rig making equipment and other relevant equipment but i still have no fish.

So it really all comes down to if anyone has any good tips to help me catch?

thanks

where are you fishing from? is it just off the beach if so go to a point further out so your bait goes deeper. A basic rig will do nothing fancy needed for that. Does your bait come off that is why you are not catching anything try using bait elastic.
Also what have you been using for bait? I fish off of the west coast of scotland and meet a lot of people from the east coast coming here for trips out, going on what they use it is pretty much the same as we do here. mackerel, rag and lug worm, sand eels, squid and blueys.
You could always try a cocktail which I find successful for pollack which is rag and mackerel, or rag and sand eel. this also works for conger and ling quite well.
Honestly knowing how far out the sands go there you are probably better getting a small boat for the day, or buying a small one with a outboard to take out when you get time. good luck and tight lines

Good fishing spot in sacramento?

Im going fishing today and I really need a good spot to fish. I don’t have a boat. I have all the equipment for big and small fish. I really dont care if its Catfish, Carp, or Bluegills. I just want to catch something. I want to catch bass, striper but it takes forever to get a bite thats a decent size. Any help will do. Thanks….what bait

Right now, your best bet is the river. However, high tide hit today at 2:30 and that is what you want to fish. I would suggest you go tomorrow at 2:30 to Clarksburg. There is a nice little boat launch right outside of Clarksburg that has plenty of shoreline available to you. The absolute sure thing for me right now is pile worms. If you go up Mack Road to Freeport and turn towards the big water tower you will hit 3 bait shops along the way. Go to the last one called Delta Bait and Tackle, they have the cheapest baits. Then go a bit further until you come to a bridge. You can either park in the open dirt lot on the left side of the bridge, or cross is, turn left and drive about 5 miles to get to where I am talking about. You should also pick up some anchovies for your voyage, use about half of a fish every time so you don’t pick up the little guys (there are plenty of them).

Now, if you want to fish for the sure thing, go to Hagan Park, William Land Park, Elk Grove Park or Howe Park Saturday the 20th. The Department of Fish and Game is going to be tossing 300 pounds of catchable catfish into these waters around noon each Friday/Saturday for a couple months.

Good luck out there.

Saltwater Equipment
Saltwater Equipment

A Look At Saltwater Fishing Gear

Saltwater fishing can be quite different than fishing in a lake or stream because the fish are quite different, so if you plan on fishing in the ocean, you’ll need different saltwater fishing gear than for freshwater angling. A saltwater fisherman needs to use very different tactics than a freshwater fisherman to be successful. Modern fishing is not just about skill, but proper equipment as well. A saltwater fisherman often needs very different equipment that a freshwater fisherman might use. If you are a freshwater fisherman that would like to do some freshwater fishing and catch fish like Tuna, Swordfish, Cod, Snapper, Flounder, and Mackerel, do not expect to be successful without some practice fishing in salt water, and some changes to your equipment.

The first thing you need is a good rod. A saltwater fishing rod should be about nine feet in length, give or take a foot. While you are getting started you can use a decent, but not top quality, rod. Look for something between one hundred and two hundred dollars, not something that is dirt cheap. A dirt cheap rod will inhibit your learning and can even lead to bad fishing habits. Also, dirt cheap rods tend to have a resale value far before the little bit you paid for them. If you start with a decent rod you can later resell it for a good price and buy something better.

Next on your saltwater fishing gear list is a good fishing reel that is designed for salt water use. Saltwater is more corrosive than freshwater, so you should look for a reel that resists saltwater corrosion. Look for materials like stainless steel, titanium, plated steel, fiber, or resin. To g with the reel choose different lines for the different types of fish you wish to catch. Shier fish require longer leaders. Fish with sharp teeth and fins require a thicker leader to stand up to their rigors. If you are using a floating line in deep water with a weighted fly, use a longer leader. If you are using a sinking line in deep water, use a short leader.

Many fishermen disagree on whether you should construct your own fly, or buy one from a bait shop. There are advantages and disadvantages to both, but whichever you decide to use you should be sure it is suited to the fish you wish to catch and is high in quality. The fly is meant to fool the fish, and low quality materials will not fool anyone. You have to make sure your fly is high enough in quality that it will actually fool the fish into biting.

If you are already experienced in fishing in freshwater then the transition to saltwater will not be too difficult, but you have to approach the task differently. Different techniques are required, and you should not waste your time by using the wrong equipment. No one enjoys an unsuccessful day of fishing, so be sure to hedge your bets by using the saltwater fishing gear that will produce the best results.

What equipment would I need to start up a 55gallon saltwater reef tank?

I have a 55gallon aquarium and wanted to start a SW tank up. What type of lighting, filter, heater, protein skimmer….etc..
I would really like to try setting up a reef as well.

Thanks in advance!

I always notice how people just copy and paste info..
I started mine 5 months ago and so for its doing great… This is what i recommend to have..

Common Liquids if preparing your own salt mix:
Amquel and Conditioner

Kent Products:
Calcium
Micro-Vert
Iodiine
Phytoplex
Coral- Accel
Trace Elements

Testing kit:
Hydrometer, PH, Ammonia, Nitrate, Phosphate

Salt:
either buckets from the store (salt already made) —– what i use..
or instant Ocean– directions on bag

lighting:
minimum a t-5 dual compact flourescent.. or 400 Watt Metal Halide bulb ( Best for Reef systems)

Heater: 20 watt heater

Chiller: Depending on where you live. If water gets too hot you would have to bring the temperature down. I live in California so that climate is average and i don’t have one.

You will Definetly Need a:
PROTEIN SKIMMER

Water Filtration:
Either Sump or Filter Canister (Diatomite)

Water Circulation inside tank:
At least 3 powerhead. Corals need water movement to cath phytoplanton etc.

Substrate:
Live rock: FIji premium Live rock, mine was 4$/lb
i will say about 30lbs. For a reef setup try to get the flat ones you see i order to place your corals
Live sand: also recommended.

Cycle Your tank for about 3 months with the live rock and live sand.

After that add your corals and kent Chemicals to start coralline growth

Fly Fishing Lanyards – Advantages of Using Fishing Lanyards

Before actually using a fishing lanyard you should know what it is, how it works and what tools does it needs. Once you know all that, you will understand why you should use it and when.

If fishing lanyards is a strange concept to you, here’s the explication: a fishing lanyard is a very useful accessory that will keep the most used fishing tools within reach.

A lanyard is used very often at conferences and trade shows in order to tag the contestants or the members of staff. Their role is very important and their used increased considerably thanks to the cushioned neck designs and the retracting clips.

You can choose a fishing lanyard according to your style because there’s a match for everyone’s taste. You can find man-made models, leather models and so on and so forth.

Thanks to a cosy band of rubber on the top half of the lanyard you can wear it around your neck every day of the year. Some of them integrate a release clasp that’s standard for all models.

Wearing a fishing vest can be quite difficult sometimes because of the heat and that’s why wearing a jacket under it is not always a good decision. Wearing a fishing lanyard is very comfortable not to mention that you’ll always have your key items close. It’s the perfect replacement for a fishing tackle box.

Don’t worry about snags or unwanted movements because the lanyard has at its bottom a bulldog clip that will attach to waders or to your shirt. Usually any regular swivel has snap lock connectors allowing you to attach your tools.

You can do that directly or you can use a retractor clip. This latter is available in various test strength versions that will extend up to 24 inches.

If you plan to outfit a lanyard, you should pay attention to some details that will attach very easily and won’t interfere with your work. For example: a safety whistle, a knot tying tool, a carabineer with sunscreen, a water thermometer, tools for cutting or holding line (hemostats, forceps, clipper), a pouch, leader gauges and at least two retractor clips just in case you need to attach more tools.

The most important characteristic of a lanyard is that it will help you carry as many supplies as necessary while wandering river, streams or sailing in your boat.

This nametag holder is actually a very useful accessory and there’s no doubt about that.

Go Northern Pike Fishing

In May, when one go northern pike fishing the pikes move into shallow waters to spawn. It is now pikes are at their heaviest, and now the really big ones are at the easiest to get in touch with. A large female pike 22 lb or more may have as much as 2,2 – 4,4 lb of eggs. We recommend that the big pikes must be released  to maintain a sustainable high pike stock. What pike fishing lures freshwater to choose can be different from one fisherman to another, but for me pike flies , shallow moving wobbler or  shallow moving pike fishing spoons may now be the right medicine. Are you interested in northern fly fishing and want a visual fishing – try a pike popper.

After spawning , pikes moves to deeper water, and now you can really enjoy good catches of pike. This is because they use a lot of energy and loose a lot of body mass during spawning and have to “eat” up fast. In this period anything from pike angling, throwing wobblers, trolling and fly fishing will do. Try a jerk bait, that is hyper effective for pike. Jerk bait will guarantee raise your pike fishing to a higher level. With jerk bait you can fish shallow, deep or between layers of water. Fishing with it will often lead to spectacular and hard attacks.

Fishing with so-called pike poppers are really exciting as they move forwards in the surface. Preferably near weed-lines and/or underwater vegetation. Pike attack these with deadly force and with huge splashes. Extremely fascinating !

In June and July pike prefer to enter deeper water , 10-30 feet and are harder to get in contact with. Pike trolling and pike bait fishing will in this period be the most effective way because it will the easiest method to enter these depths. A useful thing to take advantage of are installing a fish finders lowrance. In the evening and morning pikes moves in to shallow waters, and may be possible to find through other methods.

In the summer months pikes can be harder to find and northern pike fishing for big ones demands that you have to fish in deeper layers of water. With no wind it can be a challenging task and with this conditions it is best to fish in the evening  and the morning, while windy and grey weather often activates pikes in the middle of the day.

When it comes to fishing techniques for the summer pikes you may want to fish fast and variate, in other words combine fast and slow winding. Big baits often attracts big pike, especially after the spawning period when the pike need a lot of food after the intense spawning period.

When the water becomes colder in September and October the pike come into shallow waters again, like 6 – 18 feet, and allows capture of most methods in the right depths. The autumn is with spring considered as the best season for fishing large pikes. And as the water is colder it may be an advantage to fish a bit slower.

Use 12lb. braided spiderwire with either a spinnerbait in shallow water or a deep diving rapala crankbait in deeper water…

Must Have Fly Fishing Equipment for Winter Fishing in Montana

To succeed in fly fishing you need skills, patience and practice. Still it’s a sport and as any sport it also requires decent equipment, without which your fly-fishing experience won’t be full and unforgettable. Nowadays anyone interested in this kind of fishing can enjoy endless variety of excellent gear available for sale. Surely, fly fishing equipment won’t replace skills and knowledge but if you are a wise fly fisherman you’ll try to purchase the best gear you can find.

Obviously, you should take care to get waders that will keep your legs dry and warm, a gear bag and so on. But probably the most essential thing that every fly fisherman must have is a good fly. Flies serve to attract fish and each fly is designed for a certain species of fish. Thus it’s very important to decide what kind of fish you would like to catch and buy an appropriate fly. If a fish is not lured by your fly the rest of fly fishing equipment doesn’t not matter. Some people prefer to make flies on their own while the majority buys them already made.

The line you buy is crucial for the pleasant stress-free fly fishing experience as a reliable line will not break while you’re trying to bring your catch. A broken line will cost you time which you’ll spend to replace it as well as a lost fish. A good reel is also an indispensable part of any fly fisherman’s equipment. The reels used in this kind of fishing are considerable larger and weight more than an average fishing reel. A fishing rod should be flexible but sturdy. Today they’re made of carbon fiber and are just a little bit heavier than normal fishing rods. Your fly fishing rod and reel should work together smoothly. Thus before you decide to buy one of these items make sure they are compatible with each other and won’t cause you any trouble while fishing. A quality spacious gear bags and fly boxes are also important to any wise fly fisherman as they allow carrying a large range of different flies and keeping your equipment in order.

Bamboo Fishing Rods

What goes better with summer months than fishing?  Not much, as it is one of the most popular summer activities out there.  Not only is it both relaxing as well as exciting, but you can participate in this sport with or without friends as well.

As many anglers will attest, your most significant piece of equipment when fishing is your rod.  Fishing rods are designed out of sturdy materials such as fiberglass, graphite and bamboo and can be anywhere from six feet long all the way up to 12 feet.  The rod size is dependent on the size of fish that you are attempting to catch.

Graphite fishing rods are popular among beginners as the fiberglass rods can be somewhat heavier.  Bamboo rods are usually considered to be one of the best fishing rods you can use as they are not only light but rather flexible compared to other kinds of materials.  The more serious or professional fishermen will usually have a bamboo fishing rod in hand.  As for the price, bamboo rods can range anywhere from $5 all the way up to hundreds of dollars if you are looking for a handcrafted version.

Collecting and restoring classic bamboo rods is also a popular hobby among the fishing community as some restored equipment can sell at fishing shows for over $500.  Can you believe these are rods that have been found in people’s basements, attics, eBay or even on Craigslist?

In Sansepolcro, Tuscany, the Initial European Bamboo Rod Maker Gathering was held in 2008.  Here, crafters of bamboo rods met in order to share their views and techniques when it comes to bamboo fishing rods.  In the United States, there is also a similar conference held in New York where enthusiasts from all over come to talk about fishing and fishing gear.

Being that bamboo is so widely recognized for its durability, the demand for bamboo fishing rods is beginning to increase once again.  Many of the rods that you will see today are even developed based on designs of the past.  Regardless of whether or not you are using a brand new bamboo rod or an antique one, you most likely won’t find a better, more durable and flexible material.  And what can be better than a reliable and strong fishing rod?  One that has the ability to reel in an enormous amount of fish for your dinner table!
